In 1987, Ferrari F40 was designed with bare-bones features to achieve the 200 mph mark.

It was an unprecedented achievement at that time.

It was aided by such a thin layer of paint that you could see through it. Being able to cross a football field in a second? Unbelievable! Fast forward to now, and 200 mph is not even an impressive top speed, not enough for an adrenaline rush. Let us look at the fastest supercars and hypercars in the current world.

Hennessey Venom GT

One of the fastest supercars in the world, the Hennessey Venom GT is developed by Hennessey Performance of Sealy, Texas, and has a top speed of 270.49 mph. Equipped with a 7.0 liter shoe-horned twin-turbo V8 engine, it has a maximum power of 1,244 hp. It is a morphed Lotus Exige with altered and modified aerodynamic components that ran on NASA’s 15,000 feet long shuttle landing facility to prove its speed. It weighs 2743 pounds, and only 29 units have been built.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+

One of the fastest hypercars in 2021, the Bugatti Chiron, has a top speed of 304.77 mph. It is a beefed-up version of the regular Chiron, which is limited to 261 mph. The modifications to the regular version include redesigned exhaust configuration to the rear diffuser that generates negative lift and reduces drag. The body is stretched 10 inches in length to reduce the aerodynamic stall by up to 40% by allowing laminar flow to pass over a longer surface.

The naked carbon fiber and longitudinal orange paintwork make the performance beast look pleasing to the eyes. It is installed with an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine, and the total bodyweight of the car is 4,544 lbs. It has a maximum power of an impressive 1,578 hp.

SSC Tuatara

SSC Tuatara has a top speed of 282.9 mph. It was tested and proved at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where a Tuatara owner maxed out his gear-adjusted car to accommodate the short 2.3-mile runway. It has a power of 1,350 hp and is equipped with a 5.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Tuatara is the second SSC car in their 20-year history that competes with the fastest supercars of their time. Tuatara weighs 2,750 lbs.

Bugatti Bolide

One of the fastest hypercars in 2021, Bugatti Bolide, boasts a mind-blowing top speed of over 310 mph. It can reach 0-60 miles in 2.17 seconds and is severely uncompromising in its speed. It has an 8.0-liter W16 engine capable of producing 1,364 pound-feet of torque and a power of 1,825 hp. It is designed to redefine speed and break a number of ideas and concepts.

Koenigsegg Agera RS

With a top speed of 277.87 mph, Agera RS qualifies in the top 10 fastest supercars in the world. Its top speed run was carried out on a public road outside of Pahrump, Nevada. It weighs 3,075 lbs and has a power of 1,160 hp. It is installed with a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8. 25 units of Agera RS have been produced.

Devel Sixteen

A sight that is difficult to take in is hard to believe in having been conceived by someone. The devilish look of the Devel Sixteen is outrageously attractive and gorgeously cool. With a power of 5,007 hp, using a quad-turbo V16 engine, its top speed is estimated at a hard-to-believe 350 mph.

Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

According to Koenigsegg, the Jesko Absolut has a top speed of 330 mph. A 5.0-liter engine producing 1,603 hp, Jesko Absolut is a marvel of strength and perfection. It has a rear-wheel drive and a rear mid-engine configuration.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

With a top speed of 267.86 mph and a power of 1,183 hp, the Veyron 16.4 super sport has altered exterior air trappings to lower the drag mode. It weighs 4,850 pounds and is equipped with an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine.

Speed is what makes some people feel alive. They want a still-standing car to look like it is breaking the light speed barrier and actually break it when it runs. The performance of some of these cars is so fascinating and mighty that it is difficult for the brain to comprehend their capabilities. With the advancement in technology and the competition for breaking records, we can expect future cars to get only faster.
